Milan 2015: Re-Imagining Organisations, Re-Imagining Design
Next on our European Tour was the fabulous city of Milan, Italy. With over 100 participants from more than 18 Countries, our conference was beginning to feel like an extended family of Organisation Design. We were in the heart of Design arriving at the same time as the Milan Design Expo 2015 adding to the context and giving a feeling of connectedness to the design world which is often overlooked in our work.
We were now 100% open space meaning that we were able to hear all insights, perspectives and opinions enriching the experiences for all.
The topics covered ranged from ‘Temporary Organisations’ in the context of the Syrian Migration crisis, questions about the nature of money in work and society and how this influences design choices through to more traditional topics of Organisation Design as bottom-up AND top-down in order to be successful. Agile was also part of the conversations, a theme that would recur again and again in years to come!
In addition to the main conference, 2015 was the first year we would run pre-conference Masterclasses. Topics included ‘Seeing and Thinking Design’ with Jeroen van Bree, Manfred della Schiava and Mark LaScola; Lego Serious Play with Lucio Margulis and Adaptive Organisations: Adaptive Work Systems with Stelio Verzera and Stu Winby.
Once again good coffee, good wine and food fueled discussion, debate and fun! Where would we go in 2016? The wonderful city and hub of innovation, Barcelona, Spain!
