Masterclass Module 1 “Seeing & Thinking Design”

module1In this introductory masterclass, we explore the relationship between the individual designer and organisation design.

We will talk about different frameworks and models, as a way to explore what designing organisations means to each of us, in a very personal and hopefully fun way.

Our hope is to:
– Place organisation design in the broader movement of design thinking
– Provide an overview of different models and approaches, foundational as well as contemporary
– Explore what designing organisations means to each of us

Faculty for Module 1

 

paulPaul Tolchinsky, PhD, co-founder and board member of EODF. Paul is an internationally known pioneer in Whole-Scale Change Management. He has been consulting to major companies around the world for the past thirty years. He has extensive experience in managing and facilitating large system change efforts. Paul’s particular expertise is in the design of organisations, applying socio-technical principles and Whole-Scale™. The author of numerous articles and a number of books, Paul has been an invited speaker and guest lecturer in Europe, Australia, India, Brazil, Singapore and Hong Kong.

 

stuStuart Wigham, board member of EODF. Stuart is the Director at Wigham Consultancy Services. Prior to starting his own consultancy service he worked as a Senior HR Manager specialising in Organisation Design with Europe’s largest local authority Birmingham City Council. In addition he is currently finishing his PhD research at Aston Business School. With expertise in the Whole System school of thought, he has a particular interest in engagement principles and practice and applying strategy, reward and equality principles.

 

jeroenJeroen van Bree, co-chair of EODF. Jeroen is an organisational design consultant at Berenschot. He combines almost twenty years of consulting experience with the latest (academic) insights in the field to support managers in their task of organisational design, in the public as well as the private sector. A subject that has had his particular professional interest is enriching organisational design with elements from design thinking and game design. In 2013, he obtained a PhD at Nyenrode Business Universiteit based on his work investigating these issues.


Masterclass Module 2 “Doing Design”

module2In this second module of our series of masterclasses, we will focus on the ‘how’ of organisation design: different end-to-end design approaches, each with their pros and cons. It will be a hands-on, one-day masterclass in which participants can work on reviewing and improving the approach for their own project with the help of our experienced faculty.
Subjects that will be covered in this masterclass include:
– Critical elements of a good design approach
– Top-down versus bottom-up approaches
– Expert-based approaches versus collaborative design processes.

The EODF Masterclass “Doing Design” is suitable for professionals who have completed EODF Masterclass module 1 (“Seeing and Thinking Design”) or have an equivalent level of experience.

elviraElvira Kalmar, chair of EODF. Elvira is an experienced internal and external organisation consultant as well as an organisation and community development practitioner. She has more than 15 years experiences in developing non-profit organisations, small and medium size businesses, multinational companies and professional communities. She is currently Head of Organisation Design & Development at Magyar Telekom in Hungary. Her work is value-driven, participative, appreciative, solution and resource focused.

practicalTo ensure the best learning experience, we are limiting the number of participants to 20 for each module.

The masterclasses will be conducted in English.

Prices for the masterclasses are as follows (all VAT exclusive):
EODF members: 1 module € 150, both modules € 250
Non-members: 1 module € 200, both modules € 300 (these prices include a one-year membership to EODF)
Prices include tea, coffee, refreshments and lunch.
