Seeing and Thinking Design in Vienna, 13th of November 2015Country EventsD-A-CHEventsUncategorized

“There are a great many voices, thinkers, doers and practitioners that are all tackling the challenges [of enabling organizations to be more engaging, meaningful, fun and productive] as they can be for what is an uncertain future” [Brown-Martin, Learning Re-Imagined, 2014]

For us, Organisational Design is:

“A systematic and holistic approach to aligning and fitting together all parts of a organisation to achieve its defined business strategy and strategic intents”.

In this Masterclass the Board of the EODF would like to explore the relationship of the “individual designer” and “organization design.” Where do I come from, my frameworks and models, as a way to explore whist designing organizations means to each of us, in a very personal and hopefully fun way!

During the masterclass we will share some cases. The approach would be a “story telling approach” around org design cases.

Our hope is to:

  • Place Organisation Design into the broader movement of ‘design thinking’. Specifically, what does it mean to be a designer?
  • Provide participants with a framework that will allow them to make sense of current and future developments in Design Thinking (i.e., Holacracy, Requisite Organisations, Network Systems and Adaptive Work Systems) and, investigate those developments to determine whether they can be applied to the organizations participants are designing.
  • Connect contemporary trends/hypes to classical thinking.
